Terms of service
Last updated 3 October 2026
Finepress is run by Eric Lee, an individual based in Canada. In these terms, "Finepress", "we" and "us" mean Eric Lee, and "you" means the person using Finepress. By using Finepress you agree to these terms. Questions go to [email protected].
What Finepress is
Finepress turns PDFs into EPUB books and lets you read them, in your browser. Converting and reading need no account and cost nothing. An optional account syncs your books between your devices, encrypted before they leave your browser. Finepress Pro is a paid plan that adds to the account.
Your books
Your files stay yours. We claim no rights over them. You are responsible for having the right to convert, read and store the files you add. Finepress does not remove copy protection.
Accounts
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Synced books are encrypted with a key that only your password or your recovery code can open. We cannot read your books, and we cannot recover them if you lose both.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Account panel. Books on your devices stay there.
- We remove an account after 365 days without activity. A paid plan pauses that rule while it is active.
- Do not use Finepress to break the law, to attack or overload the service, or to get around its limits. We may suspend an account that does.
Finepress Pro
- The price is shown before you pay, in US dollars. Sales tax is added where the law requires it.
- Pro is a subscription. It renews each month or each year, at the price you agreed to, until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time, in Finepress under Account, Manage plan, or from the link in your receipt. Pro then stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.
- If a renewal payment fails, Pro stays active for 7 days while the payment is retried.
- An account can try Pro free for 14 days, once, with no card. Nothing is charged when the trial ends. We send one email reminder a few days before it does. If you subscribe during the trial, the days left are added to your first billing period.
- When Pro ends, your account returns to the free plan. Nothing is deleted. If your books take more space than the free plan allows, they stay where they are and new uploads wait until there is room.
- If a price changes, we tell subscribers by email at least 30 days before their next renewal.
Payments are handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, charges any tax, sends the receipt, and is the name on your card statement. Its own terms apply to the payment.
Refunds
You can have a full refund within 14 days of any payment. The details are in the refund policy.
Privacy
The privacy notice says what Finepress collects and what it does not.
What we promise, and what we do not
We work to keep Finepress available and your synced books safe. Still, Finepress is provided as it is. Conversion quality depends on the file, and a converted book can need cleanup. Keep your own backups: Download backup, under the shelf, saves your library to a file.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Finepress in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights the consumer law of your country gives you.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. For a change that affects what you pay or what you get, we email account holders before it takes effect.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada.
